Deccan Odyssey New Itinerary By MTDC




The itinerary of the Deccan Odyssey has been recently updated to include a halt in Vasco. The announcement came from the Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation (MTDC), operators of this Indian luxury train. The itinerary of the train is supposedly updated to add to the overall appeal of the Deccan Odyssey rail journey. The recent update will also mean that the wildlife tour at Chandrapur is no longer included in the itinerary.
Earlier, Deccan Odyssey had a single day halt which entailed visit to the World Heritage Sites in Old Goa, famous for its Portuguese Churches and Cathedral. Now, the travelers will also get to visit the internationally acclaimed "Sahakari Spice Farm", one of the largest organic spice farm in India and the “Menezes Braganza House” one of the last standing structure which dates back to pre-Portuguese era. To add to the icing to the cake, it’s the lady of the house Mrs. Braganza, an octogenarian who takes the visitors to the tour of the house.
The other destinations included in the 8 days and 7 nights itinerary of the Deccan Odyssey include Mumbai, Sindhudurg, Kolhapur, Aurangabad, Ajanta Caves, Ellora Caves, Nashik and back to Mumbai. MTDC Flags off Refurbished Deccan Odyssey Train

Deccan Odyssey a luxury train in India, has embarked on its maiden journey in a completely new look on this Wednesday. The luxury train has been re-launched with renovated interiors, including a spa, gymnasium, library, lounge, beauty salon, business center, conference room, bar and restaurants as well as luxury cabins and majorly targets foreign travelers. The hospitality service on board Deccan odyssey will be managed by the prestigious Taj Group.
Commenting on the launch of Deccan Odyssey Train, tourism minister Mr. Chagan Bhujbal said “Guests have all the conveniences and services of a five-star hotel in the train. They need not look for hotel reservations or even travel arrangements for sight-seeing trips at every destination. MTDC’s services include all meals as well as air-conditioned buses at every stop and a guided tour for guests.”
A joint venture of Maharashtra State Tourism Development and Indian Railways, Deccan Odyssey was designed to promote tourism in the Deccan region of India. During its week long journey across Maharashtra and Goa, the luxury train traverses World Heritage Sites of Ajanta and Ellora, natural treasure troves of Konkan coast and the gorgeous beaches of Goa.

Winter schedule of Deccan Odyssey to commence from 7th of September

Deccan Odyssey, a luxury train in India, will embark on its first journey of this season on the
7th of this September. Deccan Odyssey is a joint venture of the Maharashtra Government and
the Ministry of Railways, Government of India to promote tourism in the state .The itinerary
will cover select destinations in Maharashtra along with a halt in Goa. During the 7 nights and
8 days journey, guests will be taken to an array of heritage sites, sun kissed beaches of Goa, a
dash of wildlife and Konkan region to familiarize them with the history and culture of vibrant
Maharashtra.

Earlier, the schedule of the train was indefinitely postponed by the operators of the
Deccan Odyssey. Later the management decided to revive this cruise journey owing to
the overwhelming response of the tourists interested in taking this journey. The month of
September will see 4 departures and the respective departure dates are 14, 21 and 28th of
September. The journey will commence from Chattrapati Shivaji Terminus in Mumbai and will
traverse through Sindhugarh, Goa, Kolhapur, Daulatabad, Chandrapur, Ajanta caves and Nasik.

Terms and Conditions
  • Children under 5 years of age will be complimentary guests without bed. Half fare will be levied for Children 5-12 years of age
  • 10% Surcharge extra for Christmas and New Year holiday season
  • Any leg of minimum 2 nights (subject to availability) will be given at the above tariff. Thus, Goa-Mumbai (5 Nights) and Mumbai-Goa (2 Nights) segments will be sold as per availability.
    However, if a person undertakes the day program at Goa and Mumbai, an extra USD 130 will be charged
  • Service tax @ 2.58% will be charged on the gross ticket value
Inclusions
  • Tariff is inclusive of travel, catering, conducted sightseeing, entrance fee at monuments, Parks, Palaces, cultural programs, boat ride
  • The tariff is not inclusive of video cameras fees, liquor, laundry and other items of personal nature

Booking Policy
  • Booking is done at 20% advance deposit
  • Balance payment is to be made 30 days prior to departure

Cancellation Policy
Cancellation charges are as follows:
  • All cancellation must be informed by Fax/E-mail to the Central Reservation Division at Head Office, Mumbai. A letter of confirmation regarding the same must also be posted to the above mentioned address.
  • No interruptions will be entertained through refund or adjustment whatsoever on the commencement of tour.
  • If booking cancelled 60 days prior to departure - 5% of ticket value
  • If booking cancelled 30-59 days prior to departure - 20% of ticket value
  • If booking cancelled 15-29 days prior to departure - 50% of ticket value
  • If booking cancelled less than 14 days prior to departure - 100% of ticket value
